The Power Of Prayer

There have been many times in my life when I have stood witness to God showing off - Performing such incredible miracles just because He can... Just because He loves me and mine....

A few years back - my youngest had a MRI done - the technician told me that he saw something he did not like - a man with 25 years experience... I called my church and asked for urgent prayer requests... The following Sunday - my daughter wanted to go pray at the alter during the invitational prayer time - When we were done praying to God for answers and healing - we stood up and behind us and around us were several members on their knees praying along with us.... That Monday - the doctor's office called and said her brain was normal (there was a cyst or something there and it disappeared)... I believe a miracle occurred...

Many years ago I was in renal (kidney) failure and was on dialysis... I was at the lowest point in my faith and hope... My husband I decided to go to church one Sunday (we were not church going folks at the time) I remember the pastor telling us that God does not want us to worry.. God wants us to give Him our worries and concerns... He wants us to rely on Him... The pastor said to just go into a room and say "God take this worry away from - I'm tired of worrying" So when I got home - I went into another room (so my husband would not think I completely lost it) and said "God take this worry from me... I cannot do this anymore" and I laid down on the bed and went to sleep..... That night - I woke up with an 105 fever... I was rushed to the emergency room - the doctor came in and said - I have some good news and some bad news.... the bad news is the dialysis shunt has a staph infection and the good news is your kidneys are working and you are off dialysis..... Again God answered my prayers.... He gave me a miracle... By the way, that was 15 years ago and my kidneys are still working.....

There have been many more times when God showed His mercy and love. I love that I can talk with Him anytime.... anywhere.. I am thankful that He will always be there when I call Him... Today - many people celebrated National Prayer Day -Let's not stop at just one day of National Prayer... but let's keep it going Every Day....

The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26

It Opened Right To The Page - Honest

Have you ever had a burden on your heart? You pray about it.... talk about it.... and out of no where - God just puts the answers right there for you to see... He loves to use different avenues to get our attention too... He has answered my questions - through a friend or two or three on FaceBook.. Through a book I picked up to read, a magazine article, a soft voice in your heart, and a phone call from a friend I have not heard from in a while...
Today, my heart is burdened about a punishment I am giving my daughter regarding her sneaky behavior and her disobedience with the TV in her bedroom. For more details you can read my dilemma at I've Become My Mother
.

A little while ago I picked up a book I have not completely read - haven't touched the book in months - maybe a year... It's called "A Mom after God's Own Heart" by Elizabeth George... I cracked open the book and this is what I read...

Protection from TV - (folks I did not look for this - the book opened to this!) TV can become another violator of our children's mental health and moral purity. So again we go battle. Block questionable channels. Stand strong against the trend of putting a TV in each child's room; have everyone watch TV in the family room. We can also set limits on TV time and programs. Our children should have limited TV so that they learn to spend their time and minds on much more interesting activities.
I will set nothing wicked before my eyes. Psalm 101:3... Be careful little eyes what you see; be careful little ears what you hear...

I have become one of those parents that did not monitor what my kid watched on TV in her room - she does not have access to movie channels but that did not stop her from sneaking "R" rated movies from my DVD collection... My kid has been asking me questions lately about stalkers, sex, and rape... I had no idea why... Now I just found out - her favorite channel is Lifetime TV for Women...... Now I know..... I think we both are learning a lesson here.. me to be more involved and her to stay away from grown up issues at least till she's a grown up....

The Flood

There once was a man who loved God..
He would pray and pray each and every day.
One day a huge flood came roaring through his neighborhood..
The waters started to rise.
He prayed to God to save him..
The waters rose even higher and still the man prayed
The man climbed to the roof of his house and
He prayed.
As he was sitting on the roof and praying
A man came by on a boat.. "Come jump on my boat and I will save you," he said
and the man said "no, God will save me"
So the man continued to sit on his roof and pray..
Later a man on a canoe rows by, "Come jump on my canoe and I will save you," he said.
and the man said, "no, God will save me"
so the man waited and prayed and waited some more
All of a sudden a helicopter is hovering above the man's house
"Grab the line and I will save you," yelled the pilot..
"Oh, no the man says..God will save me"
The waters rose and rose and the man drowned.
The man arrives in Heaven... and is standing before God.
"Father, I prayed for you to save me and you did not." said the man
And God said," Dear Son, who do you think was in the boat, the canoe, and the Helicopter?"

God always answers our prayers.....but are we always listening?
